Comtrend's CT-5376 DSL router provides access to the Internet for individuals or SOHOs. The device itself is targeted to service providers, who would provide the device as part of their service offerings. The router features support for both ADSL2+ and VDSL2, and can automatically switch to the appropriate support according to the port setting of the DSLAM.

Connectivity to the device is via a built-in Ethernet switch boasting Gig Ethernet ports, or built-in wireless support via 802.11n (backward compatible to 802.11b/g). The Gig ports are new for this product line, and a total of five are included on the unit--all five for use in VDSL2 deployments, or four when the unit is used as a home router in a FTTx deployment (the fifth port is for the WAN link).

The unit also boasts an optional USB port, and management is via Web access or an embedded SNMP agent. Other standard features include NAT/PAT support, a DHCP Server/Relay/Client, DNS Proxy, FTP server, and TFTP server.

802.11n-wise, the vendor notes the inclusion of several optional elements of the 802.11 draft spec; including Space-time Block Coding, the Short Guard Interval, and High Throughput ("Greenfield") and HT Mixed mode support.

Additional features of the device include support for WPA and 802.1x; IP and MAC Address filtering; per-VC packet level QoS (up to 16 VCs supported); and support for remote configurations and upgrades.

The CT-5376 is expected to be available on January 30th, 2009, with a price of $129. (The currently shipping model as of this writing is the CT-5374. The CT-5374 lacks Gig Ethernet ports; it includes only four 10/100 ports).
