AccMonitor

Tracks Live Web Sites For 508/W3C Accessibility Compliance

HiSoftware has released AccMonitor, an automated server solution that tracks live Web sites for compliance with accessibility standards for Web-based information. Without file or server access, AccMonitor spiders, or crawls over, entire Web sites and reports on their accessibility status under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998 and W3C Priority 1 Guidelines.

The newest addition to HiSoftware accessibility solutions, AccMonitor features acclaimed verification technology and dynamic reporting, including "E-Mail alerts" and detailed reports for all Web files or only files that fail programmatic checkpoints. AccMonitor is an automated and platform-independent mechanism for monitoring Web sites for accessibility compliance. AccMonitor particularly benefits government agencies and other organizations that need to monitor multiple servers that host information the World Wide Web. The software benefits all organizations whether they are in the process of achieving accessibility or maintaining it.

AccMonitor removes the burden from the Webmaster of tracking multiple Web servers for compliance, and makes Web management more efficient. AccMonitor crawls the Web just as search engines do, and then generates detailed reports on Web site accessibility status with minimal user interaction. The software tracks any type of Web file, regardless of server platform, and provides customized reports and "E-Mail alerts" on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments goes into effect on Thursday, June 21, 2001. The section mandates that federal agencies must ensure that all electronic and information technology purchased, maintained, or developed meets the accessibility standards established by the U.S. Access Board. Although federally mandated, over 40 state governments, educational institutions, and many private organizations are currently implementing accessibility standards.

AccMonitor retail licensing starts at $1,295 USD, which includes two Webs. $400 USD per each additional Web (unlimited documents). AccMonitor is available directly from HiSoftware, through resellers and the GSA schedule.
