Aardvark Publisher
Empower Your Site With Dynamic Content Management
With Aardvark Publisher you can set up searchable categories of information that are indexed and easily cross-referenced. You can create unlimited data fields of any type, and then decide how you would like them displayed - for both adding purposes and for the final appearance to end users. You can either let all users or only certain users add information. You can assign editors, who have the right to approve or edit existing articles. The system will handle everything else.
Each main category of articles is independently configurable, with its own fields, text, and templates. In a 'review' category, you could ask for and display a rating, or in a 'biography' category, you could prompt for the subject's birth date. All of this information is searchable so you can find people born in the same year, books with a certain rating, etc.
To run the software, you can create three levels of users:
1. Administrators who control the creation of templates, categories, data fields and the creation of markup tags.
2. Editors who can edit any article, and approve articles prior to publication (if you decide to require manual approval).
3. Users who can submit articles for publication and (if you allow it) edit articles that they have submitted in the past.
For maximum flexibility, the software allows you to create your own markup tags. These tags can range from a simple [I] resolving to an italics tag to complex concepts. These can be edited later and changes will immediately appear on your site.
Aardvark Publisher is currently in its 4.3 incarnation and is the latest component of the BuildACommunity Software Suite - with integrated tie-ins to BAC's other products. With version 4.4 slated for a May 2002 release you can expect even greater developments and improvements.
