RedDot Express is designed for organizations needing a powerful, WYSIWYG editorial environment for maintaining their Web presence, but only need to manage a single site with a few editors and don't need deep content deployment or management tools. Because Express and Professional (see related link below) are actually the same application, upgrading from Express to Professional is simply a matter of purchasing a new license key. There are no new installations, nor any data conversions, that need to occur to upgrade.

Just like its "big brother," RedDot CMS Professional, the Express product delivers decentralized content maintenance for Web sites, intranets and extranets. Express offers RedDot's powerful SmartEdit interface, providing content editors a WYSIWYG view of the site. Editors need very little training and do not need to understand HTML, technology or Web design. The site administrator is able to set authorizations that define editor capabilities, thus protecting corporate design and content standards. Like Professional, the Express system is a pure Web-based solution, eliminating installations beyond the server application.

RedDot CMS Express is designed for managing a single site with one site administrator and an unlimited number of content contributors (five concurrently). Express offers a straight-line workflow process so that all content is routed to the administrator, in a WYSIWYG view, to approve for release to the live site. Express also offers the ability to connect to third-party databases and content formats (HTML, SGML, XML, MS-Word, etc.) for delivery of static or dynamic content and can publish any markup language (HTML, XML, WML, etc.) to any Web server platform.

Upgrading to RedDot CMS Professional delivers a host of added capabilities, including giving administrators access to the powerful RedDot Query Language, variants for multiple publication targets, versioning and roll-back, the RedDot Language Manager and internal personalization (however, RedDot CMS Express supports integration with external personalization solutions).
