Optenet NetSecure
Network Security Appliances For Enterprises, ISPs
Optenet's core product line is centered around security products offered for Enterprise or ISP deployments. The products are available as hardware appliances or as software; and the main components are available individually or in a combined form.
Each of the appliances offered by the vendor leverage their CCOTTA (Carrier Class Optenet Transparent Traffic Analyzer) technology, which they state enables the appliance to detect the type of traffic coming over the wire according to L2-L7 data and route it directly to the appropriate analysis module based on admin-defined policies. Appliances are offered in desktop through rackmount form factors, with 3 to 6 Gig Ethernet ports depending on model. Management is via a Web interface, with a single management console providing management of each of the included components. Reporting and monitoring tools are included.
Optenet NetSecure represents the combined appliance offered primarily to Enterprise customers; itself including the functionality of the vendor's WebFilter, WebSecure, and MailSecure products (each of which can also be purchased individually as needed).
WebFilter provides Web site classification and policy-based blocking capabilities, with features including the ability to block by file types or communication protocols/applications; an online content reclassification service; multilingual content analysis; support for LDAP/RADIUS users and user groups; support for proxy, sniffer, ICAP, and bridge mode deployments; and automatic product version updates.
WebSecure provides the anti-virus protection for network traffic; including both Web filtering capabilities as well as Kaspersky-based anti-virus scanning.
MailSecure provides both anti-virus (again, via Kaspersky) and anti-spam controls, with features including incremental real-time DB updates; and support for reputation-based as well as content and context filters.
As mentioned above, NetSecure represents the combined product targeted primarily to Enterprises. For ISPs, the vendor instead offers ContentSecure, which combines ChildSecure (Web filtering), WebSecure, and MailSecure into a centrally managed, multi-client platform.
New to the vendor's ISP line is the WOLF appliance, an ISP appliance that specifically focuses on the protection of minors via Web blocking of illegal or illicit sites. The vendor describes WOLF as being based on the core WebFilter technology; a limited functionality version of WebFilter that provides the ability to block inappropriate sites that themselves appear on black lists.
