TrustPort Net Gateway supervises all communication between the company networks and the Internet. It prevents unauthorized attempts to access the network from the outside, and blocks spam and attacks on servers. It also implements anti-virus and anti-spam monitoring of Web sites and all downloaded documents.

Integrated modules:

- Mail Gateway: Accepts E-mails and liquidates unwanted or infected messages. In the first phase, spam is revealed by using authentication of the sender's data. In the second phase, anti-virus and anti-spam scanning of E-mails is implemented. In the third phase, spam is detected based on text and graphical analysis reports. All E-mail traffic is also stored in case of necessary analysis, or if any lost messages are needed for tracing.

- Web Gateway: Protects end stations in the network against downloaded viruses from Web sites. The actual page is scanned along with other downloaded documents. The module also detects fraudulent Web sites which have been set for the purpose of phishing, and tasks associated with the authorization of users and monitoring of access to the network are also managed. Optionally allows the restricting of access to selected Web site categories.

- Gateway Antivirus: This module uses both prior modules to detect malicious code. It is based on several scanning engines from anti-virus manufacturers. Individual engines can be used for different scanning tasks, according to the specific needs of the company network. The vendor states that regular automatic virus sample updates are carried out.

Also available from the vendor is TrustPort WebFilter, which enables the monitoring of Web activities and if necessary can restrict access to certain Web site categories (23 available). Based on analysis of the web address and its content, the page is labeled either as a safe site, or assigned to a certain category of undesirable sites. The network administrator also has graphic statistics of all Web filtering at their disposal.

Other features of TrustPort WebFilter include daily updating of categorized Web addresses, heuristic analysis of Web sites, and support for User, Common, Heuristic, and Time line (scheduled) filters.
