AccessIron

WAN Access Routers For Service Providers and Enterprise

The AccessIron routers provide WAN connectivity and aggregation and are targeted primarily to enterprise and service provider uses. The devices feature from 4 to 16 T1/E1 ports (or 1-2 T3 ports) and a pair of 10/100 Ethernet ports for LAN connectivity, and can be used to facilitate point-to-point or multipoint Internet access or multi-site WAN connectivity.

The routers include built-in CSU/DSU and DSX-1 voice support, and can communicate via Point-to-Point (PPP) or Frame Relay (or Multilink PPP / Multilink Frame Relay). VRRP, BGP, and multihoming support provide for redundant path and router failover capabilities; and VLAN tagging and forwarding allow for the virtual extension of the LAN via WAN connections. Security is provided via support for Layer 3/4 access control lists, NAT, Secure Telnet (SSHv2), authenticated management access (TACACS+, RADIUS), PPP authentication protocol (PAP) and Denial of Service protection; and additional firewalling functions can be included via optional stateful packet inspection and intrusion detection features. QoS and traffic management features include support for 8 priority levels, configurable bandwidth contracts (Nx64kbps and NxT1/E1 provisioning), Diffserv and ToS support, and Random Early Detection packet discard for TCP flows.

The AccessIron devices are available in two primary categories: those providing T1/E1 access and aggregation (the AR1200 series) and those providing T3 ports (the AR3200 series).

The AR1200 series offers from 1-16 channelized T1/E1 ports. While the lowest entry in the series ships with 4 T1/E1 ports; the ports can be purchased and activated individually via software keys. Additionally, the AR1204 may be optionally configured with ICSA-certified IPsec.

The AR3200 series routers provide 1-2 T3 ports, and are available in both Clear Channel and Channelized configurations.

The AR3200 Series and the AR1208 (8 T1/E1 ports) and AR1216 (16 T1/E1 ports) are NEBS certified.
