Enfotec's EN series (Enfotec is a subsidiary of Ariel Way, Inc.; who was formerly known as Netfran Development Corp.) are Linux-based security appliances offering both firewalling and VPN protection. The line runs from the entry level EN5 targeted to SOHO users, to the EN500 for enterprise or ISP deployments. The vendor also offers the "CSA" series; appliances based on the EN series offerings that allow for the insertion/utilization of customized cryptography algorithms per the organization's requirements.

Each of the EN Series appliances includes the stateful Enforcer firewall, which allows for packet filtering, Denial of Service (DoS) protection, site and port blocking, NAT, PAT, and access control capabilities. The VPN features include IPSec compliance and encryption support for 3DES-CBC and RSA. IKE key management for key exchange and authentication using MD5 and SHA-1 are supported; and, according to the vendor, the EN series appliances are "fully interoperable with most other IPSec compliant products."

The appliances are managed via an SSL-protected Web Interface, or a CLI (serial ports are included).

The vendor notes that efficiency gains in their product line are primarily due to a pair of proprietary technologies: Chain Packet Processing (CPP) which enables PCI bus utilization up to %97; and Packet Signature Recognition (PSR), which allows for the checking of packet signature patterns in firmware.

Current EN Series offerings include:

- EN5: 5 Mbps VPN; 15 Mbps firewall. 3 10/100Base-T Fast Ethernet ports (trusted, untrusted and DMZ).

- EN15: 15 Mbps VPN; 50 Mbps firewall. 3 10/100Base-T Fast Ethernet ports (trusted, untrusted and DMZ).

- EN35: 35 Mbps VPN; 100 Mbps firewall. 4 10/100Base-T Fast Ethernet ports.

- EN100: 100 Mbps VPN; 250 Mbps firewall. Available with 4 or 6 10/100Base-T Fast Ethernet ports.

- EN200/300/400/500: Offering 200-500 Mbps VPN and up to 1 Gbps firewall. Port configuration options include dual GbE (UTP/SC/SX) ports, dual 10/100 BaseT, 1 GbE and 1 10/100 port, and a separate 10/100Base-T port for out-of-band management. The EN100 and higher appliances also include a FIPS 140-1 compliant hardware random number generator.
