PrinterOn Envoy
Secure Enterprise Printing From Wireless Devices
With Envoy, mobile users can opt to print in black and white or full color to any networked printer -- reducing the cost of hardcopy.
End-users connect to an Envoy server by installing PrinterOn PocketWhere, a free download that offers easy-to-use commands for message management. PocketWhere is available now for Palm OS devices, RIM BlackBerry pagers, and WAP-enabled cell phones. A PocketPC version is currently under development.
Envoy can process over 150 file types, most at their native resolution and file format, including the Microsoft Office suite, Visio, PDF, scanned documents, CAD files, nested E-Mails and compressed ("zipped") attachments. Web pages can also be viewed and printed.
Envoy is integrated with corporate E-Mail systems behind the firewall, so all E-Mail messages stay within the controlled environment. A user simply forwards an E-Mail message to a mailbox. Embedded commands instruct Envoy what action(s) to take. Envoy monitors these mailboxes and acts upon the messages as appropriate. To provide maximum security, Envoy deletes all messages after processing.
Envoy works in conjunction with the PrinterOn Global Printer Directory (see related link below) to provide end users with fast "411" search capability, allowing them to locate a printer and negotiate user access permissions to printers and mobile services. A PrinterOn membership is required to enable service validation.
Envoy subscribers can also re-use their PrinterOn membership profile for desktop Internet printing, giving them a single integrated source for wired and mobile service access.
Envoy is available to individuals via PrinterOn's hosted solution or for purchase by companies who want to host their own wireless enterprise printing service.
