Sans Digital NAS/RAID

NAS and DAS Storage Arrays

Sans Digital offers multiple product lines of NAS and DAS storage gear in several potential configurations. Among their current products are:

- The AccuNAS AN208L Linux Series offers NAS in a 2U server with Intel Penitum (2.8 GHz) Dual Core CPU. Core features include a Linux-based server operating system with unlimited clients, up to 6TB storage, PCI-X expansion, and dual Gigabit Ethernet.

Other features include: 1 GB DDR2 Memory, upgradeable to 8GB maximum; support for 750 GB SATA II hard drives; Areca Hardware RAID engine; a Web browser GUI to setup, access and monitor the NAS; NFS, AFP, CIFS and FTP support; Journaling File Systems--XFS or Reiserfs--user selectable per volume; support teaming/failover over 2 or more Gigabit NICs; support hardware RAID-0, 1, 5, 6, 10, plus HotSpare; capacity scalable via direct-attach external RAID or via remote iSCSI targets; RAID-on-RAID for external volumes; OS on DOM (Disk-on-Module) or CompactFlash card; multiple volume snapshots, schedulable or snapshot-on-demand; remote monitoring and remote E-mail notifications; NAS-to-NAS mirroring with automatic failover; NAS-to-NAS folder replication: real-time-async, scheduled differential and scheduled full copy with compression & throttle control; include iSCSI target & initiator functions; built-in NTP server.

- The AccuRAID AR212S Series is a 2U rack-mountable RAID array designed for file servers, backup, audio/video streaming, and digital video recording. Capacity is up to 6 TB.

Features include a dual SCSI Ultra320 host interface, SATA HDDs, 12 hot-swappable, 3.5" trays, scalable to levels 0, 1, 0+1, 3, 5, 6 or JBOD; steel housing; and LCD panel.

- The AccuNAS AN104W Windows Series is built on the Windows Server 2003 R2 family with specially modified code. It is fully compatible with the Windows operating system.

Features include: installation wizard; Web-based management; dual 10/100/1000 network support for teaming or redundant networking; hardware RAID support; tested with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 server; VSS; Shadow Copies for Shared Folders; PCI-X expansion port (supports SCSI or Fibre Channel HBA); contains only those components necessary for dedicated file serving.

Other interface options are available for each of the above products.

- The TowerRAID TR4M is a RAID tower utilizing the SATA II port multiplier feature, where a single eSATA cable connects to four 3Gbps SATA II hard drives. This unit comes with a 2-port eSATA PCIe card (HA-SAN-2ESPCIE), allowing connection between two TR4M units (up to 8 hard drives) using only two cables. PCI/PCI-X options are also available. The TR4M supports RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5, 5+spare, spanning and JBOD.

Features include: Supports 4 x 3.5" SATA I / SATA II hard drives; supports 750 GB hard drives (up to 3 TB capacity); removable trays; supports Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista; supports MAC and Linux via Port Multiplier.

- The MobileNAS MN2L 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure includes FTP support for Internet-based file access. Built-in account management allows you to give read-only or full read/write permissions to specific users or groups. MobileNAS MN2L utilizes SATA II technology, and supports hot-swap with RAID 1 (mirroring) and RAID 0 (stripping). It supports PC (Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista), Mac, or Linux-based computers on the network.

Other features include: Built-in iTunes Server support and built-in BitTorrent (BT) download station.

- The AccuRAID AR442F4 series is a 4U rackmount accommodating up to 63TB of storage space. The unit utilizes Fibre technology when operating as direct attached storage (DAS), and could be setup as a storage area network (SAN) with the assistance of a Fibre Channel network switch. In addition, the dual Fibre Channel ports allow the support of clustering, where the unit could be accessed by multiple servers.

Features include available three redundant and hot-swappable power supplies and two hot-swappable cooling fans; single controller (AR442F4) or Active-Active redundant controller (AR442F4R) options; supports up to RAID 6, with RAID monitoring, RAID notification, automatic failover, and automatic recovery; and a built-in Ethernet port with Web based management console and SES management features.

- The AccuRAID AR212X Series is a 2U rack-mountable RAID array designed for file servers, backup, audio/video streaming, and digital video recording. It is capable of up to 108TB of capacity and compatible with additional AS212X JBOD storage units for capacity expansion.

Features include a Dual Channel SAS host interface w/600 MB/sec of bandwidth and SAS and SATA hard drive technology; support for RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 3, 5, 6, 30, 50, 60 and JBOD modes; steel housing; LCD panel; Web or RS232 management interfaces along with SMTP manager.
