Connect e-communities
Online ASP Communities Package
RMR plc, pioneers of online conferences, has developed a new range of e-community Web sites, that provide personalised one-stop-shops for users seeking up-to-the-minute information on their own unique areas of interest.
Each e-community can be hosted by using a new Application Service Provider (ASP) software model, which has been developed by RMR plc.
E-communities allow Internet users to access information relevant to their business and share news and ideas with other like-minded members of that community.
Every member of an e-community defines exactly what type of subjects they are interested in and as the Internet starts to learn more about each individual member's needs and requirements it responds by providing new and relevant information.
The software also creates "personal notice boards" on which each member of an e-community receives only the information that is relevant to them.
The e-community system will also allow people to change their profile by adding new terms or removing redundant ones. Thus the system can search for a smaller or larger amount of news and information about a specific subject, personalised to the community member.
By using an RMR plc e-community, like-minded people can stay in touch with each other and build on knowledge and relationships they have developed from a specific online conference.
An example of e-community sites can be seen at autismconnect (see related link below), which was developed in a three-way partnership between RMR plc, the grant-giving Shirley Foundation and the National Autistic Society (NAS).
A second example of an RMR plc e-community can be found at the Energy Efficiency Best Practice Programme (see related link below), which was developed for the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) to provide a one-stop-shop for energy efficiency advice.
