Embedded WLAN Modules

RoHS Compliant WLAN Modules

Unex Technology Corp. produces a line of embedded WLAN modules--available separately--in multiple form factors. Among their current offerings:

- DRCB-M1 is an RoHS 2002/95/EC compliant 802.11b/g wireless Type I CF Card that employs a native 32-bit bus using direct memory access and adaptive equalization algorithms.

Features include IEEE 802.11b/g WLAN Ad-Hoc and infrastructure support; IEEE 802.11g / IEEE 802.11b data rate with auto fallback; 64-bit or 128-bit RC4 WEP encryption (setting with ASCII and Hexadecimal mode); IEEE 802.1x (EAP-TLS, EAP-PEAP, LEAP), CCX, WPA and WPA2; site survey function; supports WinCE4.2/ 5.0 and Linux; supports seamless roaming; supports antenna diversity.

- CM9-GP, an 802.11a/b/g mini-PCI wireless module, is an RoHS (2002/95/EC) compliant version of the vendor's CM9. According to the vendor, the CM9-GP's design features higher sensitivity and lower power consumption.

The universal 802.11a/b/g wireless module connects a device to 802.11a, 802.11b or 802.11g networks. SuperA/G supports data rates up to 108 Mbps in 802.11a turbo mode or 802.11g super mode and 54 Mbps in standard 802.11g mode.

CM9-GP supports 802.1x, AES-CCM and TKIP, WPA, and 64/128/152-bit WEP Encryption. It also supports Wake on Wireless LAN, Windows XP WHQL compliance, and Wi-Fi compliance. CM9-GP supports Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98SE and Linux.

- CM10 is an RoHS 2002/95/EC compliant half-size mini-PCI type 3A. form factor (59.6mm(L)x25.50mm(W)) with power saving functionality. It supports hardware radio on/off mechanism and provides two antenna connectors (HRS U.FL-R-SMT).

Features include a country code selector; universal 11a/b/g wireless module that connects the device to 802.11a, 802.11b or 802.11g networks; superA/G support, with data rates up to 108 Mbps in 802.11a turbo mode or 802.11g super mode and 54 Mbps in standard 802.11g mode; hardware encryption of Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), IEEE 802.11i security, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) and 64/128/152-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP); support for Dynamic Frequency Selection/Transmit Power Control (DFS/TPC); support for Wireless Multimedia Quality of Service (QoS); support for eXtended Range (XR) technology; and future support of IEEE 802.11e, 802.11h, 802.11i and 802.11j standards by software upgrades.

CM10 supports Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98SE, and Linux and supports CCX3.0.

- RM5 is an RoHS compliant 802.11b/g 54Mbps wireless CF module with small form factor 2x2cm dimension design. It features Windows CE 4.2/5.0 and Linux drivers support, max. 54Mbps in 11g mode, and low 5mA (typical) power consumption in Linux systems.

Key features include:

- Lead-free design

- Deep sleep mode design reduces power consumption to 5mA (typical) in Linux systems

- Compliant with 802.11g and 802.11b (2.4GHz) 64/128 WEP security and WPA

- Supports Contention Free (CF)-poll and CF-ACK for operation under Point Coordination Function (PCF)

- Supports Request to Send (RTS)/Clear to Send (CTS) for operation under Distribution Coordination Function (DCF)

- Windows XP WHQL compliance Wi-Fi compliance
