Communit©
Unified Inbox With Follow Me And Call Screening Features
Communit© is a unified messaging solution that combines a worker's voice mail, fax, and E-Mail communications within a single inbox location and allows them to access those communications from their desktop, by phone, using a Web browser, or via a PDA device. Interactive Intelligence states their solution can scale "... from a hundred employees in one location up to hundreds of thousands at multiple sites," and offers connectivity to most PBX's via analog, T1, E1, or ISDN PRI lines. Additionally, the system offers AMIS and VPIM support for older legacy voice mail systems.
Communit© integrates with the organization's existing communication infrastructure. In addition to the aforementioned PBX support, the initial release of Communit© runs on a Windows 2000 Server and integrates tightly with Microsoft's Exchange 2000 for inbox access and Active Directory for user authentication. The Interactive Intelligence Web site notes that additional versions of the package for Lotus and iPlanet implementations will also be available.
In addition to the ability to retrieve multiple message types (faxes are added to E-Mails as attachments and can be sent directly from the desktop, voice mails are converted to WAV files and attached to E-Mail transmissions) in a single location, Communit© offers multiple features allowing individuals to tailor the way they receive their messages. A Follow Me function allows users to route calls to an alternate number, and individuals can specify message notification rules according to their needs, allowing certain high priority individuals to reach them automatically at an alternate number or destination, for example. An additional Call Screening feature allows mobile workers to hear who is calling before deciding whether or not to accept the call.
The Microsoft version of Communit© is available now. Contact Interactive Intelligence for further information.
