PrintWhere
Print Through The Internet
PrinterOn has developed a series of products that enable users to both print directly to remote printers through their Internet connection, and enable their own Internet connected printers to be accessible via the 'Net. Though the products have their basis in IPP (the Internet Printing Protocol) the PrinterOn software and services themselves seek to extend IPP by serving a global directory of available printers with their capabilities, and a module for the IPP enabling of printers that do not currently support it.
The PrintWhere program is downloaded by Windows clients and allows them to print directly to remote printers through the Internet. The PrintWhere client links the user to the PrinterOn Global Directory of printers, that is, the directory of Internet enabled printers that other users have registered with PrinterOn. Since PrinterOn is able to maintain statistics of each connected printer, users are able to tell instantly if a particular printer will be able to handle the type of printing they are trying to accomplish.
Other products currently available are Envoy, allowing for the printing of E-Mail and their attachments from wireless devices, and Focus, which both IPP enables legacy printers, and allows the system administrator fo designate that those printers may be accessed from outside the corporate firewall (see related links below).
PrintWhere is available now. Visit the PrinterOn Web site for more information.
