PrinterOn Focus
Secure Internet Print Server For Corporate Environments
The newest release of PrinterOn Focus now includes compression and encryption of print data when sent from the PrinterOn PrintWhere (see related link below) print driver.
PrinterOn products and services are based on the Internet Printing Protocol, an open standard sanctioned by IEEE-ISTO for printing over the Web.
Focus was designed for Corporations to perform the primary functions of connecting non-IPP legacy printers to the Internet without consuming additional external IP addresses and to preserve the integrity of the firewall. Now clients, partners and remote workers can print to any selected printer easily and securely.
Focus has two software components, which are Listener and Director.
Focus Listener resides outside of the firewall or in the DMZ and responds to any IPP enquiries. It receives all print jobs in their entirety.
Focus Director resides inside of the firewall and makes outbound calls to Listener. When a print stream is present, Director pulls the stream through the firewall in the outbound call, decrypts and de-compresses the stream, then forwards the document to the correct printer on the network.
Internet printing makes it easy for companies to print rather than fax without any long distance charges and higher quality documents in black and white or color. PrinterOn Focus, a free download, now offers additional security.
