Nokia XHTML Browser
Microbrowser For Mobile Devices
The latest microbrowser in Nokia's arsenal, the XHTML Browser, supports not only the hybrid XML and HTML XHTML specification, but also offers backward compatibility by supporting existing WAP and WML based documents as well.
Additionally, the new browser supports display manipulation via cascading style sheets and a new rendering engine that together, states Nokia, will enable the creation of a GUI like interface for the delivered content that can be tailored to different handsets.
Nokia states that they intend to deploy the browser in their own devices before the end of the year, and that their server platforms will be ready to test with the new browser later this year, in time for commerical deployments of the browser. An XHTML developer's kit is expected this summer.
