WebSphere Technology for Developers
WebSphere With Web Services Support For Developers
IBM's WebSphere Technology for Developers (WS-TD) is an implementation of the WebSphere Application Server with additional support for multiple Web service deployment protocols. The package is free for developer's use only.
WS-TD builds on the WebSphere platform by adding support for common Web service protocols, which allow individual Web-enabled applications to find, interact, and communicate with one another via the Internet in a standardized fashion. Protocols supported by WS-TD include UDDI (Universal Description Discovery and Integration), which allows e-businesses to describe themselves and their business policies and services in an online registry as well as search UDDI registries for other compatible businesses; SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), a standardized method for Web-enabled apps to communicate with one another over the Internet; J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) support including JSP 1.1, Servlet 2.2, EJB 1.1, JMS 1.0, JNDI 1.2, and JSSE; and support for WSDL (Web Services Description Language) allowing for the description of actual Web applications available through the Web and the means by which (i.e., required formats and protocols) other applications can interact with those applications.
WS-TD is available now. It is free for development use only, and interested developers can obtain the software by contacting an IBM sales representative.
