Borland AppServer 4.5
J2EE Implementation Integrates EJB and CORBA
The Inprise Application Server provides a J2EE platform for application developers that combines support for both EJB and CORBA based development. The application server is available for multiple platforms, including Windows 2000, Linux, and Solaris 8, and provides the centerpiece for Borland's Web development platform, which includes JBuilder for application development and AppCenter for the management of developed applications.
The server provides a complete J2EE implementation platform for applications, including support for stateful and stateless session beans and Entity Beans. A 100% Java Web Server is integrated, adding support for Java Servlets and Java Server Pages. CORBA integration allows for the ability to invoke CORBA objects from within EJBs, and for CORBA clients to invoke EJBs without loss of transaction or security contexts.
Later releases of the product add support for the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and enhanced EJB Transaction support, including full two-phase commit. New wizards help simplfy the rollout of EJB apps to multiple containers.
