Adaptive Addressing Custom Indexing

New Data Indexing Technology - Adaptive Addressing Custom Indexing

Adaptive Addressing Custom Indexing is a new set of APIs enabling an application developer to create new solutions using the latest indexing technogy. Please find below features/benefits of the product:

- Index Management: Indexes are managed through a full set of APIs which allow index creation, alteration and removal.

- Memory Efficient: Adaptive Addressing indexes require only a fraction of the memory of conventional B*Tree Indexes.

- Disk Efficient: By using Adaptive Addressing indexes huge savings may be achieved on overall index disk space.

- Insert / Query Balancing: Often the cost of creating many indexes on a table to support subsequent database queries is a prohibitive one, due to poor insert performance. Adaptive Addressing indexes are fast during loading meaning that more indexes can be built on the dataset and hence improving query performance.

- Tuning Characteristics: Adaptive Addressing indexes may be further tuned to meet the Characteristics of the environment. Load Bias, Match, Cache and Block Size can all be tuned to give overall performance.

- Delegate Indexes: Adaptive Addressing indexes may be assembled into hierarchies known as delegates. Each index is responsible for handling a range of key values on behalf of the parent index. By creating multiple delegate indexes it is possible to spread the contents of the index across the disks.

- Composite Keys AA supports full composite key functionality in line with Oracle, however the resulting index files can save significant disk space within the system.
